01 October 2013 saw the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) change Approved Code of Practice L74 titled 'The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 Guidance on Regulations' by producing a third edition. This updated document removes the requirement for First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work course training providers to be accredited directly by the HSE.
The new Guidance allows for four training options for First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses:
To prevent increasing course costs for customers, www.firstaidcourse.me.uk will be operating under option 1 for all courses as of 01 October 2013. While HSE consider this training to be unregulated, we will be strictly following their system in 'General Information Sheet 3 (GEIS3) – Selecting a first aid training provider’ to show due-diligence. We already operate this system for our Twelve Hour Paediatric First Aid courses and other non-Awarding Body courses we offer. Having provided high quality courses for approximately ten years, we are confident in and able to continue providing the same high quality through this system.
Checklist Table 1 in GEIS3 shows potential customers of the items required to look for in a training provider. To assist our customers, we have completed the table with comments of how we as a company comply with each of the points. Please click here to download the competed PDF table.
